Something All Black People Should Read

- Chip
Note-- long post!

Read Steve Gilliard's response to Robert George (no idea who that is... maybe I will be enlightened)
UPDATE: Robert George is a black Republican journalist who defended Bill Bennett's comments on his radio show. Sorry for my previous ignorance. I was more concerned with the attitude held by this asshat towards blacks and society, even though he professes to be black himself, and I wanted to share my views on the subject. I trackbacked this post to his blog, so that he and his readers would know that I had written about it.

But time and again, you remain a Republican, you swallow their insults and then, amazingly, worry about my language? I'm a 40 year old black man. I remember reading Dick Gregory's Nigger as a kid. I still own the book, battered and taped, but it's still around. Do you want to know why the word comes to mind, because you people act like niggers. No pride, no dignity, no self-respect.

You know, my mother would ascribe your conservatism to being West Indian, and thinking you're better than American blacks and slavishly seeking white approval. I disagree with her. I think you're an idealist. I think you believe you can be a conservative, and black and treated fairly. Reality, however, means you must constantly prove your loyality and fidelity to your mentors. The problem is that to do, you must constantly belittle and deny the plight of blacks in America, or attack the Democratic Party and the black support they get.

Why is it a mystery that blacks don't support the GOP? Why do you think none of you people could run in a black electoral district and win? You would be lucky to get 20 percent of the vote and we both know it.

It is a mystery why blacks don't support the GOP, but not for the reasons you think. I don't see why a black person can't be conservative and treated fairly. Is there some kind of rule, or is just your perception? Why do you feel that a black person can't be conservative? I got some of my conservative values from being raised to always respect black people. I, as a 30 year old white male, have obviously learned more from these experiences than you learned from yours.

I grew up on a farm. Many times the highlight of my day as a child was getting up on the tractor with Bob, LD, Claude, or Buster and riding around the fields with them while they worked. Every day for lunch I ate lunch at my Grandmother's house, a cooperative effort from my Grandma and Miss Geneva, the lady who helped her around the house. When it came time to chop cotton (note: for you city folks, that means hoeing the weeds out of a cotton field), I saw Miss Geneva and her family chop cotton all day long in 100 degree heat, long after I leaned my hoe against the side of the house and went inside. Why did they do it? Did they do it because my Daddy oppressed them into doing it? No, because my Daddy wouldn't oppress a flea. Looking back now, I wish my Daddy would have oppressed me a little bit, made me work more, so I could have learned at an earlier age the value of hard work.

They did it because it meant extra money; they did it because hard work was second nature to them, and not something to complain about. That's what I learned, though it took me awhile to learn it. Whatever you do, do it until its done, and do it right. Do it because it's right, because it allows you to better provide for your family. They didn't have the best education, they probably didn't have much education at all, but they damn sure made the most of the abilities and strengths they had. That's CONSERVATIVE.

So what the hell happened? Why is it so hard to find people, black or white, who share these ideals?

The DEMOCRATIC PARTY happened, that's what. People like Steve Gilliard and Kanye West happened, who are so convinced that Republicans hate black people that they can't help but further spread the lies. Liberal black people decided it was ok to call each other ni**a. Liberal politicians decided that black people weren't capable of success on their own merit, so they introduced policies to help them. Equal Opportunity Employment. Affirmative Action. A whole lot of help that was.

Welfare programs happened. Housing projects and Section 8 happened. How do welfare, housing projects, and Section 8 help black people? Besides giving them barely enough money to live in barely adequate housing? How does that help? I don't see it... Why do more kids dream of being drug dealers and pro athletes than dream of being doctors, accountants, etc? Because the Democrats have fooled black people into thinking they can't succeed unless they sell drugs, play sports, or become Puff Daddy... P Diddy... just Diddy, who gives a shit anymore!!! Liberals are trying to destroy Black America, and some blacks are being complicit in the destruction. Why? Class warfare? It has to be class struggle.

What liberals want us to believe is that black vs. white is the same thing as poor vs. rich. It's absurd! Any black person who can look at Diddy, who can hear Diddy pimping the Democrats, and think that Democratic policy helped Diddy be successful is a dumbass. Capitalism is what made Diddy successful, not liberal socialism.

No, Bob, it's not racism, but contempt. If you don't like being called a house negro or a slave stop acting like one. Stop chasing after white people who show their contempt for your people openly.

Why is it that black people treat success as 'chasing after white people' and 'acting white' and 'being an Uncle Tom'? Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems that if you define 'acting white' as 'trying to be successful,' then the flip side of that means that 'acting black' means 'trying not to be successful.' So it's black-on-black racism, and nothing good comes from that.

Speaking of treacherous black conservatives, well Bob, it's nice to know that you folks admit that your agenda is to betray black people. I mean, you people push vouchers, knowing that they will ultimately go to fund seg academies in the South, you people parrot lines about blacks being dumb and voting Democratic, you people support tax cuts which harm working class people, especially the black working class. You support the end of public housing, so that black people are at the mercy of slumlords.

We can talk about your treachery, your placing of self above all, all day.

But I want to also talk about words. Not words like nigger and porch monkey, but other words:

Social Justice

Education

Health Care

Fair Housing

Diverse Media

Affirmative Action

How clever you are! Let's see what I can say about that CRAP.

  1. Vouchers...to support seg academics-- Hmmmmm.... if black people use vouchers to go to private schools, how is that 'seg' academics? Seems like private 'integ' academics to me. And it gives kids a chance to learn in an environment that commands that they do so!
  2. Support tax cuts that harm working people-- Have you even been paying attention? The US economy is consistently adding jobs, and it was just announced that there are now more millioniares in the US than ever before. Something MUST be working, and the only economic stimulus has been a decrease in taxes. Stop quoting talking points just to quote them... Try backing them up with facts. Never mind, you can't.
  3. Support the end of public housing-- Are you really serious? Have you ever BEEN to a public housing project? They ARE slums, and this problem is compounded by the fact that there is no responsibility associated with living in one, no sense of pride, no ownership.
  4. Social justice-- To what do you refer? This, I suspect, is something a liberal uses to imply that society is unjust. Waaahhhhh!!! Life isn't fair, won't ever be fair, and crying won't get you anywhere, so SUCK IT UP.
  5. Education-- Government indoctrination centers. Public education is a JOKE, and politicians keep throwing money at the problem that gets wasted by asshats that care more about not offending bad ass kids by making them actually learn something. So kids graduate totally unprepared for life.
  6. Health Care-- Have you ever heard of Canada? Great Britain? If you want socialized, universal healthcare, you better learn about the pitfalls of such a program first, and not just tout it because it SOUNDS good. It's not so great.
  7. Fair Housing-- SEE #3. Do you think that the only fair solution is for everyone to live in a dump, no matter how much they succeed?
  8. Diverse Media-- Yeah, all these liberals in the media are chapping my hide. Maybe if we can get some conservatives on the alphabet networks, we can take more steps forward.
  9. Affirmative Action-- the whole concept of Affirmative Action implies that blacks and minorities are unworthy of consideration without government mandate. It's the liberal form of racism.
Any questions?

Wait, there's more!

You know, Republicans are great at talking up capitalism, but better at keeping the door closed to blacks. I don't see any move to end housing discrimination or redlining, acts which wouldn't cost a dime to impliment. If you want more entrepreneurs, something which you can see in Harlem today, it might be nice if you could get loans and insurance without jumping through hoops. Not just a payoff to their allies and their "minority-owned" firms with the figurehead black "owner" and white backers.

YEAH, that was brilliant when white folks decided to put the 'race' box on loan and insurance applications. You know, I just bought a new Chevy truck, and I'll be damned if I can remember the 'race' box on the application. And I bought my insurance (from a black Republican, no less), and they didn't ask me what my race was either.

And just to pile on, this is stupid, what you opine in this next little quote...

Once again, a black Republican seems to advocate policies which would harm black people.

When it isn't ignoring insults. it's actively seeking to harm black people, their own people.

So exactly why should any black person be a Republican if they aren't ambitious to the point of willing to harm other people?

If you had bothered to apply your limited brain power to the article, you could figure out why New Orleans won't be as 'black' as before. A large portion of the people who left New Orleans have no plans to return. All New Orleans represented to them was poverty and a shitty life. Why not move on, try to turn their lives around, get a fresh start? Just because you prefer that they live in 'fair housing' and get 'social justice' in New Orleans, doesn't mean that's the best decision for them. What about the increase of 'blackness' in other cities and communities around the USA? Here in Charleston, I've heard of several families moving here, putting down new roots, and getting on with their lives. And I applaud them for it.
